Overdraft Protection

  • Discretionary program available on most checking and money market accounts
  • Insufficient fund items will be paid up to your account Overdraft Protection limit
  • A standard NSF fee of $35 will be charged for each item created by check or in person withdrawals, ATM withdrawals, or other electronic means paid under the accounts Overdraft Protection limit. On the 5th business day of a negative balance, your account will be charged an additional $3.00 per business day.

  • Overdrafts must be paid within 30 days. The bank reserves the right to return any item if the funds are not available, suspect the item to be fraudulent, loans or any other obligations are delinquent, declaration of bankruptcy, improper endorsement, account has been overdrawn more than 30 days. Whether your overdrafts will be paid is discretionary and we reserve the right not to pay. For example, we typically do not pay overdrafts if your account is not in good standing, or you are not making regular deposits, or you have too many overdrafts.
  • Other overdraft services are available, such as overdraft lines of credit and automatic transfers from other deposit accounts you have with us. Contact us to discuss how the terms and fees differ for these services.
  • The consequence of extensively using overdraft protection is paying fees that lower your deposit balance.
  • If the account incurs multiple overdrafts in one day, a fee with be assessed for each overdraft.
  • Overdraft fees charges for covering a transaction will be subtracted from the Overdraft Protection limit available.
  • Transactions may not be processed in the order they occur. Transactions are paid from smallest to largest dollar amount. This process can affect the total amount of overdraft fees incurred.
  • Transactions that may be covered under the Overdraft Protection program and cause a fee to be incurred include: overdrafts created by checks, in person withdrawals, ATM withdrawals, check card transactions, telephone transfers, preauthorized automatic debits, service charges and other electronic transactions. ATM and check card transactions are not covered transactions unless you have opted-in to the payment of overdraft fees for such items.
  • You may opt out of Overdraft Protection at any time, but you are responsible for any overdrawn balances at the time of opting out. If you would like to have this service removed form your account, please call (423) 636-1555.
